Celebrating Rosh Hashanah

Abby's school was out for Rosh Hashanah (aka Fall Break) for two days so we decided to pull Sam out and go to the beach for a long weekend. We also picked up Abby's friend, Carly, in Macon and headed down to Amelia Island.

Swimming at night

Oceaning at night

A favorite trick...jumping into the pool
(just a few short years ago Sam would only sit on the stairs)

Todd's impressive Kid Catapult

Shopping downtown

The beachcombers

Dinner at Kabuki

There was an infestation of huge dragonflies...ugh! They landed in the pool and drowned and we had to scoop them up. It was horrifying (at least for me).

Todd & Sam golfed

The pros are now wearing wetsuits

Hunting for hermit crabs

Playing in the rough surf

A brief moment of brotherly/sisterly love

Sam is so brave in the water and loves to dive into waves. It scares me to death!

We had a great little trip and enjoyed some time away.

We also enjoyed:
  • eating out
  • playing tennis
  • watching cable TV (which we don't have)
  • eating M&Ms
  • renting a golf cart
  • walking the beach
  • skinny dipping (don't worry, it was the little girls)
  • giggling late into the night
  • losing a tooth (Carly)
  • Elf mischief

Did not enjoy:
  • losing 2 pair of sunglasses in the ocean
  • getting a nose/brain full of salt water after being crushed by a wave
  • hearing the TV go "pop" and have a burning smell (I swear we were not even near the TV when that happened)
  • going home
