A little something...

I was at Target the other day...well, honestly it seems I am there every day but I came across these little eye masks in the dollar section. I decided to make a little something for Sam's teachers for Spring Break.

They come in 4 different styles and I just made the little tag that says:

"Hope you get some much-needed rest. Happy Spring Break! Love, Sam"

I glued it to some cardstock and stapled it to the package.

Super simple!

Super cheap!

I am truly grateful for all Sam's teachers!

Happy Spring Break!!

Service Sunday

Happy Service Sunday!

We kept it kind of simple today but the kids had fun. Abby's Primary teacher was released today and has been called to the YW. While we are happy that the YW get her, we are sad that she's no longer in Primary. Abby's been crying. A lot.

We decided to bake some cookies and take them over to Sis. Riggs as a Thank You.

She will be missed by the Valiant 8 Class.

My practically half-sister, Andy, came up with a cute idea on her blog. You can read her post here. We chose to use her idea and go "Ding Dong Ditching" for Service Sunday. While I purchased 3 boxes of Ding Dongs, Todd felt it necessary to open one so we only had 2 to hand out.

Our first stop was the Stephens family. They are in our ward and we see her all the time at Starbuck's. She's our favorite hot chocolate barista.

The second house we hit is the Adams family. No, not the Adams family. We will be sad when the Adams move to Chattanooga.

As we drove back by, the Ding Dongs were still on the doorstep. Here's hoping the rabbits, squirrels or raccoons don't take their Ding Dongs.

Here's some super great video that I captured of the running that ensued after the doorbell was rung.

We had a cute return missionary speak in the ward today. Elder Doan is from the Douglasville Ward and he returned 10 days ago from the Boise, Idaho mission. He spoke about service today and closed his talk with this poem:

Sermons We See
Edgar Guest

I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day.
I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way.
The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear,
Fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear.
And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds,
For to see good put in action is what everybody needs.

I soon can learn to do it if you'll let me see it done;
I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run.
And the lecture you deliver may be very wise and true,
But I'd rather get my lessons by observing what you do.
For I might misunderstand you and the high advice you give,
But there's no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.

When I see a deed of kindness, I am eager to be kind.
When a weaker brother stumbles and a strong man stays behind
Just to see if he can help him, then the wish grows strong in me
To become as big and thoughtful as I know that friend to be.
And all travelers can witness that the best of guides today
Is not the one who tells them, but the one who shows the way.

One good man teaches many, men believe what they behold;
One deed of kindness noticed is worth forty that are told.
Who stands with men of honor learns to hold his honor dear,
For right living speaks a language which to every one is clear.
Though an able speaker charms me with his eloquence , I say,
I'd rather see a sermon than to hear one, any day.

I absolutely love this poem! So happy to have heard it on our Service Sunday.

A Show About Nothing...

I had heard on the radio that Jerry Seinfeld was coming for one night. Cool. I told my friend Cindy about it and she told me her husband, Ryan, loved Jerry. That's where I left off.

A few days later Ryan called Todd to see if we wanted to go. Todd said sure. I was not willing to pay the prices that were list...$200/person!! I don't love Jerry that much!

They both had searched for tickets and it appeared sold out. I guess Todd had made a phone call to his mom to have her check with Lynn, my father-in-law's former secretary who still works for Cox. Judy apparently called and spoke with Lynn and a few days later Lynn texted Todd that it was indeed sold out but she managed to find two tickets.

Todd and Ryan tried to get Cindy & I to go after the 4 of us went to dinner but they didn't want to do that so it was Todd and I at the Fox on Saturday, March 12th.

Hard-to-come-by tickets!
8 rows back!

We left early enough but encountered lots of traffic. We parked and managed to get a table at the restaurant Publik. It was so-so.

popcorn + cinnamon almonds + M&Ms + water=$17.50!!

There was recordings going non-stop that said:
"There is to be no photography of any kind during the show. No pictures or videos allowed."

Once Jerry Seinfeld came out, all bets were off. EVERYONE took video and pictures. Even people on the front row.

So much for rules!

Todd got this pic, not great but at least we have one.

A very short video:

The show was AWESOME! We laughed, we cried...
It was so much fun and it truly is a show about NOTHING!
He talks about the most mundane things in our lives and it is HIL.AR.I.OUS!!

I hope he comes back to Atlanta soon.

Thanks Judy & Lynn for helping us with tickets.

Perks

One of the very few "perks" in my life.

I'm not afraid to use it either.

And yes, Sam is in the car with me when I do use it. I'm not a cheater.

Todd didn't like the fact that I had this little "perk". He felt that there are others who deserve it more. I beg to differ. There are people who deserve it less. Sorry. That was rude.

At this point, I take what I can get.

Talent Show

For FHE on Monday we had an impromptu Talent Show....put on by the kids since Todd and I have no talent. Sam has enjoyed this song and Abby's been practicing on her guitar.
