Halloween 2008

Here we are! Abby finally decided on Snow White, at the last minute. So far this season she's been a cheerleader, Jasmine and now Snow White. Sam has decided that since he's going to be a game show host when he grows up, he's got to practice being Drew Carey every year. I wanted him to run for president. I was going to print off fliers asking people to make Sam their "write-in" candidate but he wouldn't go for it.

2001: Sam was the cutest scarecrow ever!

Happy Halloween

2003: Abby was a lavendar princess/fairy (??) and Sam was Bob Barker. We sprayed his hair silver and pinned a "Price is Right" sign on his back.
2004: Douglasville, GA. This year we opted for book characters. Sam is Clifford, The Big Red Dog and Abby is his owner, Emily Elizabeth.

2005: Sam is a peg-leg pirate. He had a cast on his foot so it was very authentic. Abby was a princess and I just love the look on her face! Priceless!

2006: Abby is Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I actually made her dress and have vowed to never to that again! Sam is a Braves baseball player.

2007: We're starting the "Price is Right" up again. Now that Bob Barker has retired, Sam has moved on to Drew Carey. Abby is Princess Jasmine.

Tis the Season

Abby has been practicing her song, "Away in a Manger", for her upcoming recital on December 6th. She's been taking piano lessons for about 2 months at school and has been doing really well.

Playing catch up

My photos are not in very good order but it's 10:30pm and I'm tired! The photos above are from the same visit as below but these are taken in Panama City Beach, Florida. My cute cousin Carrie, her husband Gabe and cute kids, Paige, Josh & Claire, live just a quick walk across the street from the beach so it was really fun to let the kids play together. You can't beat sitting on the beach in October!

Here we are in Destin/Sandestin, Florida. We spent a very quick weekend there. Todd played in a golf tournament and I took the kids to the beach. This was our first visit to the Gulf and it was beautiful!

Abby's b-day was on October 11th and she got to spend her actual b-day at the beach (see above). We had her party on the 18th, along with everything else under the sun! We had a "Spa Party" for the girls. I hired a woman who did in-home pedicures so the girls got their toes done, one of the girls from the ward came and did their hair and we had brunch. It was fun!

Saturday the 18th was a busy day. We also had tickets to Wicked at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. We found a great restaurant, Bazzaar, that served appetizers and desserts then went to the show. After spending $67 on a t-shirt and CD, $9 on Raisinettes, Junior Mints and a bottle of water, we were ready for the show. It was amazing! We loved every minute of it.

Sam had his final baseball game on Saturday, October 18th. His little team went from 6 players to 12 in a few short weeks. They are a great group of kids and it was a really fun experience. The coach is trying to get a special field made for the Special Needs Team so that it will allow for walkers and wheelchairs. We'll see what happens next year!

October 7th

Yesterday was my birthday, I am 25...again. I spent my day vacuuming & mopping the floors, ran some errands, and took the Young Women to the temple. The youth are always starving after we do baptisms so we usually take them to Wendy's afterward for a healthy meal. I, however, choose to go to a little bakery/cafe across the parking lot. I ordered a lovely Chicken Waldorf salad sandwich and a bowl of mushroom bisque. As I was waiting for my order, one of the servers came up to me and told me that I looked like a celebrity. She couldn't remember the name so she started asking her co-workers about a particular movie this woman was in. After about 10 minutes, I got my order and left. As I was crossing the parking lot, the girl comes out and yells, "Michelle Pfeiffer, that's who you look like." Happy b-day to me!

When I got home, I noticed this cake on the table. Todd and the kids had baked a 2 layer lemon cake with chocolate frosting....not your typical combo but it was all I had in the pantry. If you'll notice, the center of the cake is cut out and put on the plate. I have an issue with eating the edges of things. I prefer a center piece, be it rice krispie treats, brownies, cake, etc. Every year my cute husband bakes a cake and cuts out the middle piece just for me. That is true love! Thanks, honey! By the way...the lemon cake with chocolate frosting is not too bad. FYI....cards and gifts will be accepted through October 31st.

I've got to be an equal opportunity mother so here's a video of Abby singing the songs she's learning in Spanish. We've heard them at least 100 times. She's almost ready to study abroad.

Sam's baseball game

Here's a short video of Sam's second baseball game he played in on Saturday. We actually had two teams which was great! The kids all had a great time & they've scheduled one more game for the season. What you can't see on the video is Todd getting hit on the knee by the ball. That's the price you pay as a dad being the pitcher.
