Playing catch up...
Sam's cast finally came off on Valentine's Day! It was a long 4 weeks but he did very well. We also got his new brace which was a bit of a challenge since it kept causing blisters. They also added a half-inch lift in his right shoe. Good times.
Sam was most excited about getting to take a real bath!
Sam wanted to ask a friend to go to the pool so I let him do it and sweet Christian said yes so we went to the pool for about an hour. It was fun to see this happen!
On Sunday, February 16th Todd mentioned he wasn't feeling well and it quickly escalated to what he knew was a kidney stone. I offered to take him to the ER but he said he was fine. Riiight. I ran to church and asked the Sister Missionaries to teach my class then headed back home. He was bugged that I tried again to take him to the ER. I just changed clothes and sat down until he decided he couldn't take it any more and off we went to Piedmont.
This was our first visit to Piedmont and it was strange but he got treated and it took 2 weeks to pass the stone. Poor guy! He's doing better now.
Sam and I had to go get his brace and shoe at the orthotics office at Scottish Rite and of course, I was running late and the parking stalls are so tight and I ended up scraping up a car. A 2012 Cadillac to be precise. I left a note and once our visit was done I drove by and she was there so we chatted and exchanged info. She was so kind. So kind in fact that about an hour later she called and said she wasn't going to file a claim since it was so minor. What a blessing for me!
Our designer, Brian Patterson, came over and we spent 3 hours choosing our paint, tile, flooring, etc. for our bathroom renovation. We being on April 14th!

Abby participated in Local Auditions at Clayton State. She played two memorized pieces and if she got an "Outstanding Performance" she would move on to Regional and she did it!
Abby's Spring Break is very early, second week of March this year. Since we've got 2 spring breaks here we just did stuff around town.

Bernie and Elaine came out for a week-end visit! They arrived on Friday, March 21st and Todd picked them up at the airport. We met at Sam's school to pick him up. Bernie and Todd went to lunch and Elaine and I took the kids. We came back to the house to give them a tour, hang out, fire pit, golf cart ride and dinner at Due South. It was fun to get caught up. They spent Saturday with the other Weinreb clan.
Saturday night, E & B brought Ellie and Ava with them since all the girls were going to have a sleepover at the hotel. We ordered pizza, made s'mores and played then we took them to the hotel and let the kids swim in the indoor pool. They lasted about an hour then Todd, Sam and I came home.
On Sunday, everyone came to our house to have a brunch prior to E & B leaving for the airport. We had good food and visited until they had to leave. It was too short of a visit but hopefully we can get to Chicago soon.
Right after E & B left for the airport, we headed to the Honors Concert for Abby. All the kids who got "outstanding performance" at the Local Auditions played in this concert. It was great! So many talented kids!
Abby's 5th Grade Ensemble Choir participated in the Southern Star Music Festival and I went to watch. Both the 5th Grade Ensemble and the 6th Grade Honors Choir did an amazing job!
The next day was the Regional Auditions at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. It was an hour and half ride and we had to be there by 8:40am! We left before 7am to get there on time and give her the opportunity to warm up. It was a bit disorganized but she played very well.
All the 5th graders played and we waited for the results...

Abby is off to State Auditions at UGA on April 26th. She is so excited!
After we were done in Macon, we headed to Six Flags as part of the Southern Star Music Festival. The awards ceremony was at 7pm and we got here around 1:30pm. 5 1/2 hours of Six Flags is no fun! We managed a few rides between the rain and wind. She really wanted to go on the log ride and Thunder River....
Needless to say, we were soaked from head to toe. Literally soaked. And we got to spend the next few hours wet and cold.
There are 29 schools from 6 states that participated...choirs, orchestras, bands. There were 5 kids from Woodward that came to the awards ceremony and as it turned out, Woodward's participants won all Gold marks and wouldn't you know it, the 5th Grade Ensemble won the Grand Champion Award. 5th graders beat out middle/high schoolers! It was a priceless moment and worth all the pain cause by being at Six Flags to celebrate that moment with Abby.
It's been a busy few months!
