Thankfulness

We got home from our beach vacation yesterday. That experience will come in a later post. We truly have the best dog and we are able to leave her home and have a neighbor come feed her. She is quite self sufficient. We do, however, need to cover our furniture because she sheds like crazy. Todd used every fleece blanket we had in the basement so it was decided that all those blankets & Newman's two beds needed to be washed but there was NO way I was going to wash them in my washer. We'd have dog hair on everything.

Now, it's been years since I've had to use a real laundromat. I wasn't looking forward to it either. I recalled that there was one in the same shopping plaza as Big Lots, Dollar General & the Rent-to-Own store. See where this is going?

I was actually nervous about the whole thing. I drove to the location and remembered that I didn't have any laundry soap or quarters...both are necessary for this adventure. I tried to buy laundry soap at Big Lots but they didn't do cash back w/a debit card. I then tried the Dollar General, no luck. I then had to drive to the grocery store, buy over-priced soap and get cash. I drove back to the laundromat and walked in. A Spanish channel was loudly playing on the TV. I selected two washers, hoping they would work, got my $3.00 in quarters and got them started. The room is filthy & smells like smoke so I rushed out of there to kill 23 minutes of wash time. I got my car washed at the "3 Minute Car Wash" but still had 20 minutes. I then killed more time at Big Lots & bought some chocolate.

I went back and changed the laundry to the dryers and had another 14 minutes of drying time to kill so it was back to the Dollar General for 2 plastic Easter baskets. Finally, my time was up and I was able to walk out of the laundromat, hoping to never have to go back again. I called Todd and thanked him for having a good job so that I didn't have to haul all our laundry to a laundromat and spend an entire Saturday in the "coin operated laundry".

That was my Saturday afternoon adventure.
