Mole 1.2

 Holy moley!

We found yet another mole on Abby's back that looked suspicious.  I had changed dermatologists so I took her into Atlanta for a consult.  The doc felt it did look funny and with her history, it should come off.  Of course Abby freaked out and it was decided to go the pediatric plastic surgeon route.  We made an appointment with Dr. Mackay and made arrangements for her minor procedure, to take place at Scottish Rite.

The day came and we left at 6:30am and it took us 90 minutes to get to the hospital.  We got checked in, assigned a room and by 10am she was off to surgery.

Five hours later we were able to go home.  All is well.
It was a lengthy and pricey way to remove a mole but much easier on the patient.

The Great Migration

My oh my how busy we've been!

In early June we decided that we'd had just about enough of the school commute so we decided to put our house on the market.  We weren't too smart when it came to choosing a real estate agent.  I guess we should have asked around.  Lesson learned.

Our goal was to move to Peachtree City or Tyrone...close to Sam's school.

It took a total of 3 weeks to go under contract!  Yikes!  We had an agent in the PTC area and we had looked at a number of homes but nothing felt right.  Too outdated, too far, too gray!

Todd made mention of a cul-de-sac street that he really liked and since Sam's teacher, Mrs. Huber, lived close by, we asked her to check with the neighbors to see if anyone had an interest in selling.

As it turns out, one person was interested and Mrs. Huber then left a note in the mailbox and on the front door with my contact info.

Hans called me and he described his house and I was interested.  We made an appointment to go see the house the day we left for Jackson Hole.  The home was in really good condition yet needed some updating.  The light fixtures are something to behold.

Behold....the Monkey Fan!

Hans used to own a lighting store, thus the strange fixtures.
There are things we really liked about the house...the location, flat yard, sprinklers, cul-de-sac, etc. but of course there are things we don't love...the master bath, too many doors, etc.

Well, with our trip just hours away, we told Hans we would talk and be in touch with him.  We did like the house enough to make an offer but he was totally unwilling to work with our agent so we had to go it alone with our attorney.
It was the most miserable process!  Hans was a pain in the rear!

After all was said and done, we finally were able to agree on a price and moved forward.
The timeline...
  • Contract on PTC home finally complete on August 20th
  • Inspection on PTC home on August 21st
  • We closed on our home in Douglasville on August 26th at 10am
  •  Closed on PTC home on August 28th
  • Moved out/in on August 29th
Hans wouldn't pack a thing until he had a literal check in his hand.  Who does that?  He refused to have the money wired to an account.  He also didn't want us to move in until Friday even though the contract stated Thursday.  Needless to say we were moving in and he was moving out all at the same time.  He also asked to spend the night in the basement and borrowed the golf cart one last time.  Let's just say it was weird!

We have now been in PTC for a month and are really enjoying it!  The commute is awesome (5 minutes as compared to 40 minutes), the neighbors are great, there are plenty of neighbor kids who like to play together, golf carting around is so fun!

We are happy that the whole buying/selling/packing/moving process is over!

Home sweet home!
